Another Forecast: Martial Law in the Philippines?

This administration, from what I have seen the past few days, is becoming dangerous. What are those?

1. When Roxas was declared President of Liberal Party, and the Nationalista Party declared Villar. I heard, rather read, somewhere, that GMA issued an statement to the effect that 2010 is still far away (read: I am not handing power yet, or ever!).

2. With the recent Trillanes and Lim brohahah at the Manila Peninsula, this administration, tested, how the people and media would react, in case a Martial would be declared in the future. Testing the grounds, so to speak i.e.:

a. how would the people react if a curfew is declared? Can they manage a curfew, and can a martial law be declared in 2010? Is it still possible?

b. how would the media react? can we still arrest dozens of media, manageably, and discipline them?

People of the Philippines, watch out!

House Plans and More

We all know buying a home, especially when we are on budget, is quite difficult. Thanks to the internet, nowadays we can search, choose, find a location, and predetermine the cost we have mind. Now, there is a site www.houseplansandmore.com that can help us. Once you visited the site, you will know what I mean. Right on their front page, there is a search engine of sorts, where you just fill in you’re requirements i.e. minimum and maximum square feet area you desire, the number (both mini and max) of bedrooms, bathrooms, maximum dimensions of the house, and estimated costs to build. You also can put in your zip code, as we know building in different locations would cost differently. There…once you have inputted you’re desired requirements, you will have an idea how much would it cost. This is a good start in realizing you’re dream home, whatever that means.

The site search features makes finding that special luxury house plan a breeze. They also have a list of more than a dozen home plan style categories, and has dozens of styles from Log Home Plans, Luxury Home Plans to Ranch House Plans. The simple navigation allows one to narrow by category and the cost-to-build tool is a unique feature that allows the home plan searcher to ensure they will stay within their set budget.

Also they have Photo Gallery that can provide you a true feel for the home you are interested in purchasing. You can click on the Photo Gallery to view all plans with photos available. And when viewing a single plan, click on the camera icon to view available photos. It is fun and simple way to take a virtual tour on the home you are planning to buy.

Wanna try it now? Head on to their site at www.houseplansandmore.com

Cash Advance

Situations that you cannot avoid happen and you need cash as soon as possible. It’s not that you do not have the cash, only that the amount is not there yet, or is not enough and you need a quick 500 to 1500 quickly. And you loath to sell anything that you own, and besides doing a garage sale would take sometime, or putting something on Ebay would not be as quick or would not raise the amount that you need.

So what should you do? I suggest, cashadvance1500.com, it’s a website that will provide you with the advantages of cash advance and payday loans to help you find quick cash as soon as possible. On this site you can choose from over hundred of lenders from all over the world. You can borrow from about $500 to $ 1500 without the need to fill out any forms or stand in lines.

How do you avail this quick payday loans? You just have to be employed with a minimum income of at least $1000 and an active banking and checking account. After the criterion is met the transaction is done almost instantly directly to your banking account.

So in case you need quick cash, head on there.

My advise for 2008

For our OFWs, particularly in Saudi Arabia and other countries in the Middle East:

1. Use your riyal to buy Iraqi Dinar. And watch your gains in 12 to 18 months, and you will be surprised!
2. If not, keep your money in Riyal or Kuwaiti Dinar. Again, if not convert them into Pesos.

Why? Read on...

From United Press International (UPI)

Forecast: U.S. dollar could plunge 90 pct

RHINEBECK, N.Y., Nov. 19 (UPI) -- A financial crisis will likely send the U.S. dollar into a free fall of as much as 90 percent and gold soaring to $2,000 an ounce, a trends researcher said.

"We are going to see economic times the likes of which no living person has seen," Trends Research Institute Director Gerald Celente said, forecasting a "Panic of 2008."

"The bigger they are, the harder they'll fall," he said in an interview with New York's Hudson Valley Business Journal.

Celente -- who forecast the subprime mortgage financial crisis and the dollar's decline a year ago and gold's current rise in May -- told the newspaper the subprime mortgage meltdown was just the first "small, high-risk segment of the market" to collapse.

Derivative dealers, hedge funds, buyout firms and other market players will also unravel, he said.

Massive corporate losses, such as those recently posted by Citigroup Inc. and General Motors Corp., will also be fairly common "for some time to come," he said.

He said he would not "be surprised if giants tumble to their deaths," Celente said.

The Panic of 2008 will lead to a lower U.S. standard of living, he said.

A result will be a drop in holiday spending a year from now, followed by a permanent end of the "retail holiday frenzy" that has driven the U.S. economy since the 1940s, he said.

Here is the link to the news.
--------------

Actually, I am not sure, I agree with the above forecast. What I will watch out in 2008 are indicators such as:

1. OPEC countries demanding Yen or Euros or Yuan for their oil.
2. De-pegging of some currencies such as what Kuwait did in May 2007.
3. Diversification of trillion dollar holdings of the Chinese and Japanese.
4. The certainty of the Middleast Unified currency (2010 launch) not peg to US dollar.
5. Countries using US dollars as domestic currency contemplating to launch their own.

--------------

Hoping all will be well in 2008. Mabuhay si Bush, hehehe.

Congratulations President Fidel V. Ramos

On the news today from PDI:

Ramos was at the University of the Philippines-Los Baños to receive a special award given by the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA).

On his award, organizers said:

“If there is a single person in Philippine history who really did a great job in starting broadening the base of development in this country, it is this guy (Ramos), by liberalizing access to technology -- particularly telephone, airlines, interisland shipping, banks,” Balisacan told the Inquirer.

-------------

If my memory serves me right:

1. Before he became President we used to have 8 hours a day of brownout in Metro Manila. He solved it by searching investors all over the world - more than 20 B dollars was invested to provide electricity to the country.

2. As a result, we graduated from a major exporter of copra to electronics.

3. I remember, it would take anyone 5 years to get a PLDT line (even with party line) and 25 thousand pesos. After FVRs liberalization, we can now get a phone in a few days, at unmentionable cost. And there goes, Smart, Globe, Sun etc.

4. There was only PAL, and the fare was astronomical - only the rich can afford it. After he liberalized it, came Cebu Pacific, Grand Air, Air Philippines, Spirit etc. that prices, at one time, went down to less than a thousand.

5. Finally, as a community development worker, at the time of his Presidency, I was travelling weekly in different parts of the country. I have personally observed arm-to-market-roads, irrigation networks, rural electrification, seaports, city expressways, and mass-transit systems (the now MRT in EDSA) among his achievements.

6. It was also the time: Law and Order reigned in the land. During his Presidency a Congressman (de Guzman , I think) went to jail, Jalosjos went to Jail, the son of a Senator went to Jail, an Actor (Robin) went to jail, Governors, Mayors etc. people who violated the law. During his time, no one was above the law.

I can mention more and more; such as improvement in the educational system etc. But it would take pages.

Congratulations FVR.

2008 Predictions and Forecast

OK, it is still early. Next week is December, and in around five weeks 2008 would be around. I tried, over a cup of coffee, forecasting, what's going to happen in 2008. My general predictions, provided no big- untoward incidents in the world happen, are as follows:

---------------
Generally

1. People have been disappointed with the US dollar in 2007. The same would happen in 2008. US Dollar will continue to fall, until where? I don't know.

* this could mean the start of decoupling of US dollar from oil, riyal, etc., etc.
* this could mean people with lots of money will dump dollar denominated bonds, etc.
* this could mean forex traders will continue shorting the dollar etc.
* to mention a few of the many possible implications

2. Euro is going to hold more authority internationally that the previous years, probably replacing US dollars. But then the ECB will have to do something as they can't let the Euro go up and up.

3. Metals will continue its up movement. People will want oil to be priced in Euros, I guess. Oil will continue going up, but not more than 120 per barrel.

4. The Peso will continue moving up. More investments will go into Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, and other ASEAN countries. Australia will do great.

5. China will roar. Although, its economy is overheating - no crisis yet are in sight for 2008. The country will be the darling for investors in 2008, similar to 2007.

--------------

In the Philippines:

1. The Peso will reach 35 to 38 to the dollar by December 2008.
2. More OFWs will go abroad but will ask for higher salaries in dollar terms, many will return to the Philippines.
3. Chacha will be back, and opposed. No success in sight for Chacha. Instead, positioning for 2010 general elections will start mid of 2008.
4. The economy will continue improving, more investors will come in.
5. As usual the GMA administration will be accused of corruption from all sides. Indeed corruption will worsen in 2008.

--------------

This is all for now.

Ways to reduce stress

My past few days had been stressful. You know, paper works for the loan, some clients not paying in full their dues, and my planned travel to Cebu being postponed because of the weather, among other reasons. So I am posting here, another forwarded email outlining how we can reduce stress in a Christian way...you may or may not agree with some of what it says...but I want to share this because this might be of help...so here it is:

An Angel says, "Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice."

1. Pray
2. Go to bed on time.
3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.
4. Say No to projects that won't fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.
5. Delegate tasks to capable others.
6. Simplify and unclutter your life.
7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)
8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.
9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don't lump the hard things all together.
10. Take one day at a time.
11. Separate worries from concerns . If a situation is a concern, find out what God w ould have you do and let go of the anxiety . If you can't do anything about a situation, forget it.
12. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary purchases.
13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.
14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.
15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.
16. Carry a Bible with you to read while waiting in line.
17. Get enough rest.
18. Eat right.
19. Get organized so everything has its place.
20. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your quality of life.
21. Write down thoughts and inspirations.
22. Every day, find time to be alone.
23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don't wait until it's time to go to bed to try and pray.
24. Make friends with Godly people.
25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.
26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good "Thank you Jesus."
27. Laugh.
28. Laugh some more!
29. Take your work seriously, but not yourself at all.
30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can).
31. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most.)
32. Sit on your ego.
33. T alk less; listen more.
34. Slow down.
35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe
36. Every night before bed, think of one thing you're grateful for that you've never been grateful for before. GOD HAS A WAY OF TURNING THINGS AROUND FOR YOU. "If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31)

Mint Credit Card

It is really difficult if not impossible to get through with life without a credit card. You know that, I know that, I guess, everybody knows that. But then, we have to be discerning, and we should always look for the best deal out there. For Credit Cards, there is Mint. What can you get out from a Mint Credit Card? For starters, Mint offers you a 0% on balance transfer (2.5% fee), offer is valid until January 2009; its looks a good deal, and maybe you should transfer all your old balance to Mint. Another is 0% on purchases until June 2008. Well we all know Christmas is just a few weeks away, and if you are really into a heavy Christmas shopping, then this is a great opportunity. In my opinion, this is a good deal and not just worth a look, but a deal you should grab.

You can also obtain Mint Loans, they offer 7.4% APR typical on personal loans of £7,500 to £14,999. What else? You also can look for information about credit card consolidation at their site. By doing credit card consolidation, you can continue paying your balance with low interest rate.

So? There website is http://www.mint.co.uk .

What's up, Loren?

I actually do not have much time to post now, because I am planning to go to Cebu for some escapades...hehehe. Until I read the news today from the PDI:

"The Senate committee on economic affairs will look into the peso’s steep ascent and assess the strong currency’s impact on Filipinos, particularly exporters, call center operators and overseas workers.

Committee chair Sen. Loren Legarda said the peso’s rise had become critical, especially after the Social Weather Stations (SWS) released a survey showing that at least five million Filipinos have been adversely affected by the peso’s surge against the greenback.

“While a strong peso benefits the economy, there is also a need to look into the legitimate concerns on the effects of the surging peso to the overall performance of the financial market,” Legarda said. "

-------------

I am not really sure what she wants, hehehe. She is not an economist, and I am not. She is a Senator, and I am not. But, really, if the goal is to legislate the Forex of Peso vis a vis the dollar (and therefore all the other currencies all over the world), all I can say is........ what? hehehe.

All I am saying, is that, since she is a broadcaster - journalist, she better stick to the various issues that involves the media such as:

1. the Lolit bruhaha
2. the Malou drama
3. the unprofessionalism of so many of them
4. these never ending telenovelas that teaches kids nothing but how to be bad persons/ kids, how to swear, how to hate friends, how to betray family members etc.
5. and many others

Is she an economist now? Not even the US Senate or Congress can legislate the real value of the Dollar. Well, Malaysia tried it in 1997, but, we all know the effects then...

This is all for now.
--------------
I hope I don't get arrested for this, similar to the boybastos guy, hehehe.

I want you guys to laugh

This is a forwarded email, therefore, I do not claim anything out of this, I just want you guys to laugh. Read on.

The Importance of Observation

First-year students at SWU's Vet College were receiving their first anatomy class, with a real dead cow. They all gathered around the surgery table with the body covered with a white sheet.

The professor started the class by telling them, "In Vet Medicine it is necessary to have two important qualities as a doctor: the first is that you not be disgusted by anything involving the animal body."

"For an example," the Professor pulled back the sheet, stuck his finger in the butt of the dead cow, withdrew it and stuck it in his mouth. "Go ahead and do the same thing," he told his students.

The students freaked out, hesitated for several minutes. But eventually took turns sticking a finger in the anal opening of the dead cow and sucking on it.

When everyone finished, the Professor looked at them and told them, "The second most important quality of this profession is observation. You see, I stuck in my middle finger and sucked on my index finger. Now learn to pay attention!"

Hehehe, please don't do that to your students.

Roulette Ebook

Since I started earning money from the internet through blogging, I have been coming up with various niche sites hoping to cash in the boom, whatever that means. I also frequented the DP Forum. In the forum, someone was selling an ebook, with a marketing pitch that says: win money from internet casinos by roulette – guaranteed; you can never lose, if you just follow the rules. I believe that in gambling, this is no certainty, it is a bet against the odds, and if you are lucky, you win, if not, you lose.

However, the guide really showed that there is a way to gamble in roulette without losing – really! The stats he showed convinced me, and the approach he presented was, I guess, in my opinion, scientific and mathematically convincing. The number one rule is that, you deposit your play money with a Casino that would match it with free money. After playing sometime, you withdraw your deposit, and just play with the Casino money, “using his never lose guide.” He says he had been winning 2K per week!

I actually, haven’t tried any online casino yet. And the “guaranteed winning method in the roulette ebook” some how is prodding me to try online casino, that is, to try my luck. But before I jump, I must look for a site that provides reviews of various casinos on the internet.

Good thing is, there is Pro360.com. It is the best online casino review site in the web; the site allows you to read reviews of many online casinos which enable you to select the best casinos to play and make good money.

Now, hmmm, let me select which one, that is, if ever I decided to try my luck.

Obtained a loan

The past few days I had been busy. It was harvest time and I started collecting "rentals" from the land on my "Agri-Financing" business. Most have paid, apart from a few clients who still have to do their harvesting.

Also, I applied for a 6 figure loan from my usual agency, but then, this time it was more complicated than before. Requirements and paper work are too much, I almost gave up, hehehe. But then, I needed the loan to continue my on-going businesses, and to fulfill my target "asset acquisitions" for 2007, hay.....

Hopely, the loan will be released next week, and I can get on with my life and businesses. Only this time I also have to be careful, and more foresighted, whatever that means. I have to be careful budgeting the money - as lending institutions, as of today, are quite difficult. All I am saying is, I really have to stay liquid financially until around March next year.

Life is like that! Expect the unexpected, or else....

This is all for now.

Remedy For Back and Nerve Problems

I remember, few years back, I had back pain, which I thought was due to sitting on my computer table for too long. The pain suddenly occurred around early November when the weather was changing from fall to winter. Anyway, I tried various medicines, but I was worried about side effects. Luckily, the pain, as of today hasn’t come back, yet.

But, even if it come back today (God Forbid, hehehe) I would not have to worry much because there is rezilient. What is resilient? Rezilient is a medicine for back and nerve problems, a product of the latest scientific research on back pain believed to be effective.

A study from the Journal of Surgical Neurology reported some promising benefits on Omega-3 Fatty Acids from Fish Oil for Back Pain:

• 59% had stopped taking any NSAIDs for pain
• 60% of patients noted an overall improvement in their pain
• 60% of patients specifically reported less joint pain
• 80% of patients stated that they were satisfied with their improvement
• 88% of patients said they would keep taking fish oil supplements

The above statistics are quite comforting. Also, the Pharmaceutical Grade Formulation of rezilient is Certified PCB, heavy metal, mercury, pesticide, and dioxin free. So, we do not have to worry much about untoward side effects.

OFW money, Oil Prices, and Inflation

Our OFWs should not complain too much about the current exchange rates of the Peso. Do you remember the years, way back in early 90's, that a mere change in the oil prices in the world market by a few dollars triggers massive transport strikes and price increases of commodities in the country?

OFWs are the modern heroes. One of their duties is to save the country from perennial crisis. Including saving their families and the rest of our countrymen from escalating inflation, among others. Our OFWs had done their heroic roles, greatly, I would say; particularly for the past few months. Despite the oil prices reaching near 100 dollars per barrel, I can still buy my can of sardines at relatively the same price months back (June 2007).

I wonder if our OFWs are not sending dollars, and if the Peso did not strengthen from 55 to its current rate of 43. How much inflation, that is, what rate would fares and prices go up, when the oil prices move up from 65 sometime last year, to today's almost 100 dollars per barrel?

I think, and definitely, the strengthening of the Peso, and the reduction of the OFW dollars in Peso terms sent to their families, are somehow compensated by the tempering of inflation in the country. Otherwise, the Peso value of dollars sent by our OFWs, even if it increased to 60 to the dollars, would have been futile, if a much larger inflation happened; i.e. if the fares and prices more than doubled relative to the almost doubling of oil prices in the world market.

Out OFWs have contributed their part and played a heroic role to save our countrymen from crisis and misery.

If only, our government officials would do the same; if only they would also do their duties, greatly. Hay....I know it is wishful thinking. Kailan kaya?

Remortgages Online

We have been posting here all the movement in forex, gold, oil and stocks for the past several months. Most of us know that the current movements in the financial market primarily in the US and else where were caused by the housing crisis that hit the US last year and early this year. The problems spread to other areas in the world including U.K. The news today from the New York Times quoted Ben S. Bernanke, the chairman of the Federal Reserve, that the US economy is likely to slow noticeably in the months ahead. Interest rates had been cut twice this year. All these happening are due to the sub-prime mortgages problems the past several months.

But in situations of crisis, there’s always an opportunity, thus companies who recognized the opportunities due to the sub-prime problems began offering their services to help people Compare Mortgages in the U.K. This is because, those that have been affected by this current sub-prime problems would likely look for remortgages , that is, to refinance their existing loans, or by simply changing to a mortgage lender that could offer better interest rates. So, for first time buyer mortgages finding the right mortgage lender would be quite daunting. Where should they go? They can go to mform’s site to check out their first time buyer mortgage guide. Information such as: buying a house ranging from choosing a property, choosing a mortgage, mortgage features, and they can use the multiple calculators to check stamp duty, rate change, and monthly payment among others.

What about Gold-3

Part 1 was posted way back in March 27, 2007, and in that post I said:

Despite the sideways movement of gold prices, I still feel very much bullish on this metal in the long term. Gold for April delivery closed down $1.40 at $662.50.

In my opinion, this is a good buy. I would buy, and sit on it for the rest of the year. My target is at least double its current price.

My reasoning for doing this - is something I cannot post, a gut feeling, and a dream.

----------------------
Part 2 of this post was posted in September 22, 2007, around 2 months ago; and I said:

But that followed spot gold's surge to $739 an ounce in Europe on Friday -- its highest since January 1980.

It is up and up!

---------------------

Today, November 8, 2007, on the news (from PDI):

The pullback in oil helped cool the surge in gold which peaked at a 28-year high of $845.40 on Wednesday, near its all-time high of $850 reached in January 1980. Spot gold was trading at about $833 an ounce by 0605 GMT.

So?

No matter what, I will have to close the trade once it reached 900. I guess a gain of 260 dollars an ounce is more than enough. I have always said do not bite too much what you cannot chew, and be careful. Besides, the year is almost over.

====================

On a different front; it was an accident. Let us pray for his recovery.

I admired him for not running Senate re-election during the time he was Senator under the Aquino Presidency.

On the news (from PDI):

Former senator Rene Saguisag is in a “semi-conscious” condition after figuring in a road accident that killed his wife early Thursday, according to a doctor of the Makati Medical Center where he is confined.

Dr. Eric Nubla, head of the patient-relations office, said Saguisag suffered severe trauma to the head and chest as a result of the accident.

Plasma Wall Brackets

I remember that in the first week of September, I posted something about Digital Frames. I thought, having one is great, but I worried about the mount that will be used. When buying for a Plasma Wall Brackets, always remember to buy a quality and tested product so as to ensure that the frame or TV is safe. Searching and thinking of safe mounts for Plasma TV or LCD TV and even for Computer monitor, you should consider something that is safe, quality and will not crush you’re newly bought Plasma TV to the ground. the search brought me to the site of Dekomount products that include: Plasma TV Wall Mounts, LCD TV Wall Mounts, Computer Monitor Wall Mounts, Accessories, Projection Screens, and Projector Bracket Mounts.

The Dekomount product comes in excellent packaging, at reasonable prices. They offer fast delivery when the product is ordered in UK. They also provide 18 months warranty for their products.

If you are worried of the mounts you used for you’re Plasma TV, it is best to get a quality product that will provide peace of mind and satisfaction.

I support the call for snap elections

On the news today from PDI:

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Vice President Noli de Castro should resign and a snap election be called in 60 days, incumbent political, former military, and media personalities declared in a manifesto they released Wednesday.

Among those who signed were:

Senate Minority Floor Leader Aquilino Pimentel Jr.
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV
Former senator Serge Osmeña
Lieutenant General Romeo Dominguez
Renato Constantino Jr

Armida Siguion-Reyna and Bibeth Orteza
Bishop Leo Alconga of the Philippines for Jesus Movement;
former ambassador Roy Señeres
columnists Conrado de Quiros (Philippine Daily Inquirer),
Ellen Tordesillas (Malaya)
lawyer Harry Roque of the University of the Philippines-College of Law.

Although I agree with the call, I can not sign yet the petition on their site as I am waiting for credible people to press Malacanang to conduct a snap elections. Who are the people I am talking about? I am talking people like FVR, former Finance Secretary Camacho, former Energy Secretary Popo Lotilla, former Budget Secretary Boncodin, the Makati Business Club, the CBCP among others.

The list above who signed the petition are full of people whose vested personal interests are too visible for me (through media). I simply do not trust them. Who are they? The colored red (I do not trust), while the blues (I trust).

Hectic days

I been busy lately...mostly in my farm. Its harvest time and so I have been processing the payments of my lenders for the past few days. All proceeds will go.. to pay my loans. After these series of payments; and by 3rd week of November, I will get another loan, again, from my lender. This loaned amount will serve as capital for my re-lending (my Agri-Lending Business). Hehehe. Yup...that's what I do, I seek loans somewhere else, and loan it to somebody else. My gain is the interest differential between the source of my loan and interest I charge my clients.I earn somewhere in between. I know its kind of difficult and risky - thus I have to take the necessary precautions: pirma, garantiya, notaryo, etc.

Been to Western Union to cash my adsense today, the exchange rate was 43.75. It is pretty good. I also opened, last week, an Eon account with Union Bank, so that I can apply for expanded use with Paypal. I have already max out the 100 dollars sending limit for unverified users. Hopely, by next week, I will be verified.

On forex front, the single European currency in late-day deals surged to $1.4528, its best showing since its creation in 1999.

While the Canadians, must be happy because the Canadian dollar also hit a record against the greenback, jumping to US$1.0723. Yup, the Canadian dollar can now buy more than a US dollar, hehehe. Amazing!

The price of gold rose to $796.50 per ounce. And going up, I guess.

What about the Peso? It is a present at 43.85. And getting stronger.

Dito muna.
