Pinoy X sa KSA supports the Burmese People Uprising

Burma is ruled by one of the most brutal military dictatorships in the world. For decades the Burmese regime has fought off pressure--imprisoning elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi and democracy activists, wiping out thousands of villages, imposing forced labour, creating refugees.

But last Tuesday Buddhist monks and nuns, revered in Burma, began marching and chanting prayers. The protests spread as hundreds of thousands of ordinary people and public figures joined in, finding the hope they'd lost. Now they're facing crackdown so please, show your solidarity to this movement towards reconciliation and democracy and sign the emergency petition supporting the Burmese people -- it'll be delivered to United Nations Security Council members and international media all week:

http://www.avaaz.org/en/stand_with_burma/tf.php?cl_tf_sign=1

In the past, Burma's military rulers have massacred the demonstrators and crushed democracy. The world must stand with the Burmese people at this time, to show the military rulers that the world will not tolerate repression and violence.

Right now, global leaders are gathering in New York for the annual United Nations summit. In speeches, press interviews but also in real actions, we need them to show Burma's military junta that the global community is willing to act in solidarity with the protesters.

Show your solidarity to this movement for peace and democracy and sign the emergency petition supporting the Burmese people. It'll be delivered to UN Security Council members and the UN press corps all week:

Thank you for your help!

Eye Exercises

My eyes have been strained, I guess, because of too much time spent sitting in front of my computer monitor. Also, my smoking, I guess add to the problem. I am thinking, perhaps, I already have glaucoma, apart from my myopia. I wear glasses because I just cannot see several meters away. I own three glasses, one I used when I am at home, the other when I out of the house or at work, and a spare one. We really have to take care of our eyes, because once its damaged, we have unimaginable difficulty doing the tasks that we used to do, like surfing the internet and blogging.

So, I searched the internet for eye problems remedies. One site that offers free eye exercises, free phone consultation, and free newsletter is naturaleyecare.com. The site sells CDs and book resources that cover natural approaches for common eye problems such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, floaters, dry eyes, myopia, hyperopia & presbyopia. Includes nutrition, diet & lifestyle recommendations, Eye Exercises, vision & personality, visual hygiene, and more!

A Thousand Barangays Do Not Have Electricity

I watched again, for about half an hour, the NBN hearing at the Senate, via ANC today. Only Joker made sense. I am partial to Roxas, but not soo good.

The male Senator Cayetano, opened his mouth to say: "a thousand villages in the country do not have electricity". What he meant, if I am interpreting it right:

"Why are we putting up broadband when 1000 villages do not have electricity."

My take on this are as follows:

1. $^%&^*)*%$#, those two things maybe related, but is totally not the issue in the inquiry. Ang koryente, ay koryente. Ang broadband ay broadband.

2. I travelled around the Philippines for a few years. When I say, I travelled; I really travelled, as in been there, live there for few days. I can easily give him specific places i.e. a hundred villages that have no electricity. I, and the people living there understand why their is no electricity connected to the grid, and most if not all of them have no complaints. What are these places, aber?

a. Hehehehe. OK, an example is Patnanungan island (a Municipality) with several Barangays, the place is located east of Quezon, behind the Polilio island, it is more than half day travel by sea. And on to it are the islands of nowhere, I forgot the name.

b. Another are the islands in the North of Bohol composed of Mahanay, Calituban, Jandayan, Nasingin, Pandanon, Cataban, Guindacpan, and several dozens more up to the Mucipality of CP Garcia. Each island is a Barangay or two, several miles apart.

c. Another is Barangay Emandiwing, wherever that is, on top of the mountains in Burauen Leyte.

But many of the houses in these islands have electricity, one way or the other, some have TVs. They use generators (you can now get a generator for around 10K), car batteries (1K, used lights are 12 volts), and some have solar power. Connecting them to the grid is not practical cost wise. I am sure these Barangays and are included in the 1000 list he claimed to have no electricity. But this is beside the point. Ang koryente ay koryente, ang broadband ay broadband.

I agree with Joker Arroyo when he said: do we need it? If not, scrap it. If we need it, what is the best deal? BOT? a China Loan?

OK, whatever.

Peso-Dollar Forecast

If you have been following this blog, then you know that we have been blogging about foreign exchange trading, and currency forecast for the past two years. We predicted correctly the movement of the Peso from 56 down to 45. We also correctly guessed the movement of Gold and Silver.

So?

We will predict where will be the peso be, three months from now. Although I prefer its current rate of 45, my guts tell me that by December 15, it will be at 42-43. What is your guess?

=================

On the news (PDI):

MANILA, Philippines -- The Philippines has failed to make itself a better place for businesses, slipping eight notches to 133rd out of 178 economies surveyed by the World Bank.

Last year, the country ranked 126th in the World Bank's global competitiveness survey, where the institution annually assesses the ease of doing business in a particular economy.

The government last year launched a high-profile attempt to address the very problems affecting the country, as mentioned in the World Bank's 2006 survey.

=================

Clearly, the efforts of the governments' "high profile attempt" to address the countrys' problems was just a mere attempt. Hay.........

So, where is the Peso going?

Much as, I wanted to believe that the Peso would hold 45 to the dollar, because it is best for the economy, for our OFWs, for our exporters, among other reasons; I am afraid it is going to get stronger than anticipated. This is because of the combination of the following events:

1. The ZTE scandal has subsided.
2. The US dollar will continue to weaken in the weeks and months ahead.
3. The Philippine economy, literally, is not so bad.It will pick up in the 4th Q.
4. The "ber" months is up, we all know the dollar flows when Christmas comes.

So?

Take advantage now, while the Peso is still at 45 something. Hay...I hope a stronger peso would translate to lower prices or at least 0 inflation, so our people would benefit out of this.

On the news (PDI):

MANILA, Philippines - American Express bank sees the peso surging to as high as 42:$1 in the next three months on the country's improved macroeconomic fundamentals and reduced global investor aversion to emerging markets.

ZTE - NBN Deal Suspended

It was a good move. The moved hopefully would quite the contoversy.

I watch the hearing over the ANC. And my few cents are as follows:

1. When it comes to money - all our politicians are active. Understandable, hehehe.

2. What is the role of the Senate? To investigate corruption? Kick backs and pay offs?

3. Unexpectedly, in a Senate hoped to be sane, only Merriam makes sense! I will vote for her, again, anytime.

Is it possible for the Senate to come up with just a Committee to gather information and evidence on corruption and file them with proper courts - sans extensive hearings, grandstanding and all?

What I want to hear from the Senate are more substance. For example:

a. A hearing on how we can improve employment in the country.
b. A hearing on how can the government/Philhealth improve its services.
c. A hearing on the feasibility, urgency and affordability, and what are the best options technically on the NBN project.
d. A hearing on how we can improve the educational system. Etc.

Please enough of politics and grandstanding.

Under Foot – Quality Trade Show Flooring

While it's always important to have an impressive trade show display, it's also important to remember the little things about your display. Top quality trade show flooring is just as important as the display, and I think you'll be happy you went with Modern Day Displays to get yours. They have the best selection of flooring for all of your trade show displays.

What about gold?

In my post last March 27, 2007, I have this to say:

Despite the sideways movement of gold prices, I still feel very much bullish on this metal in the long term.Gold for April delivery closed down $1.40 at $662.50.

In my opinion, this is a good buy. I would buy, and sit on it for the rest of the year. My target is at least double its current price.

My reasoning for doing this - is something I cannot post, a gut feeling, and a dream.

So? Where are we now?

I do not have to mention the Canadian Dollar reach parity today with the US dollar, nor I have to mention that the Euro reach its highest today against the US dollar. The "Queen" already posted it, hehehe.

On the news (PDI):

Spot gold was quoted at $732.50/733.30 in New York late Friday, down from late Thursday's level at $734.20/735.00.

But that followed spot gold's surge to $739 an ounce in Europe on Friday -- its highest since January 1980.

It is up and up!

So?

I am not sure whether the EU Central would let the Euro on going up. Certainly, the Canadians with too much oil, and oil at more than 80 dollars a barrel, would oblige to have a 0.9 dollar to a Canadian. hehe. So...where should we go?

The Peso? Not much, but has room for appreciation. So, where?

My two definitive answers, would be:

1. The Yuan
2. The Iraqi Dinar

Give them a year and you will see, hehehe.

PS: Seek advice from a financial expert.

I am tied

What a title.

Years back, when I got nothing, when I was searching for job/s, and was not yet managing my business; I can go anywhere I wish (except the moon, hehehe), anytime. Now that I am micro-managing my business (maliit pa kasi) and because I am so afraid of failing - I cannot go anywhere - I feel I am tied to it daily. It is like adsense, where I feel compelled to check my earnings 2x daily, hehehe!

I need to come up with a management system that will run by itself without me. I do not want to be tied running my business because I do not want to get old, adding money, counting money, depositing money, paying money etc. hay... but my fear is, like Reyna Elena, my relathieves, whatever that means.

So..I have to come up with management system.ASAP.

--------------

Been to my farm today to check things up. Everything is fine. Harvest is soon due - makaka-alpas na rin sa current situation, and time to jump to the next phase of improving my current businesses. This is because, harvest time, provides me with enough liquidity to acquire more things, and to buy this and that to expand my business.

Quality telecommunications equipment and service

Having quality telecommunications equipment is something any company can do, but what separates them is the service. That's why I think you'll be happy to stay with a quality company like First Point, Inc. What's great about First Point is that not only are they a top telecom reseller, but they offer warranties, repair services, and a range of telecom cables and accessories. They really do offer the full package. With a company like First Point, I know you'll appreciate how you can make one call to one company and get all of your needs met, instead of having to call multiple places to fix your needs.

Saved

I was out yesterday looking for good DVDs, when I meet a long lost friend. As usual, nagkayayaan, and so we went for drinking in a Videoke bar. I was a little bit pressed because I did'nt have enough cash on hand, good thing was, I remembered I transfered money from my Paypal account (I usually transfer money from my Paypal because I am afraid it would get limited) to my VMI card. So, off I went to BDO and took out 5K. Hehehe.

That amount was all from blogging "paid post" and from "link offers". I sometimes get paid 25 dollars on a post, which took me 10-15 minutes to write and publish. Also, links are mostly paid by Paypal....so?

To my fellow Pinoy bloggers who are finding it difficult to blog "paid posting" and to accept "link offers" because Philippines is in the limited list of Paypal countries, then maybe you can do what I did. And here it is:

1. Get a VMI (Virtual Money Card), email her : millie@mooncash.com , if she still sell VMI cards, I bought mine from her. Paid her via Western Union. Cost is 3K pesos including mailing, card activation etc. Once you send the payment, she will send and you will get the VMI Card with instructions.

2. Open a PayPal US. And attach your VMI card to your Paypal account.

3. You can now start doing "paid post" and accept "link offers". Or sell anything on the internet and accept payment via Paypal. You should transfer, every now and then, your balance in your Paypal to your VMI card. You can withdraw the money from Metrobank or BDO ATM machines.

Good luck.

PS: I have been using VMI Card since June without any problems.

Do not spend more than what you earn

It’s been my motto for quite a while now: do not spend more than what you earn. This is, I guess, the first step you should take if you want to be financially healthy, whatever that means.

Now, if you are in deep debt, I would advice for you to seek pro active actions to solve your debt problem ASAP. I would suggest you seek debt relief and credit card consolidation counseling.

Many people starts overspending on their credit cards that debt problem starts. Also, because of this problem, credit counseling has become more popular nowadays. What is it? It simply will provide you with counseling and solutions to your debt and credit card problems. For example: credit card consolidation would be adviced to people who owns many credit cards, i.e. to close all their credit card but one. This way the debt becomes more manageable. Also, the credit counseling company will help you negotiate for lower interest rates, etc.

Seeking for help would not only improve your financial health but also would enable you to avoid problems such as sleep disorders, depression, relationship problems, health risks, social issues and mental breakdown. Yes, these are some of the indirect effects of having too much debt. So?

How much do I earn from blogging?

Magkano ba talaga ang income ko from blogging?

Expenses (monthly) 900.00 pesos. This is my Bayantel Internet connection. I need the internet to blog, read the news, check my email, search, etc. So, it is not really a total expense solely for my blogging activites.I do not pay my domain and hosting - I decided to ride free on blogger.

So, how much is it, and where are they coming from?

This is for the month of August:

Adsense: 290.00 dollars
Linkworth, links and paid posting: 80 dollars
Smorty: 66 dollars
TLA: 12 dollars
Loudlaunch: 20 dollars
Other links : 65 dollars
Kontera: 27 dollars

For a total of 560 dollars or 25K pesos. We all know how much and what 25K can buy in the province. Nuf said.

PS: Never spend more than what you earn.

Sequel to my Self Assessment Post

Now that I have compared my situation in 2005, and 2007, what are my plans?

Until December 2007:

1. Buy 2 more Multicabs and Franchises; also hire two more drivers.
2. Infuse capital to my agri-lending business to further increase palay interest by at least 200 sacks per year. Succeeded in increasing the interest by 200 sacks last May.
3. Buy 1 more lot.

Capital outlay for the above three targets is 600K.

From January 2008- June 2008:

1. Plan to construct 3 to 5 apartment units on my acquired lots. Although construction will not start until the summer of 2009.
2. Study the transport business using Vans or Buses***. Make a plan/feasibility study.
3. Infuse more capital on my agri-lending.

***I started with MCH (tricycle with sidecars in 2004), then move to Multicabs (2007), and hopefully would be able to move to Van and Buses (2009).

Being a new businessman, my greatest challenge thus far is cash flow management (liquidity), it is difficult in the sense that there are many unforeseen expenses along the way.

This is all for now. I am going out to see the eclipse.
