When taking a loan, you can get one or get rejected depending on your credit history, which is why you should be abreast of what is happening on your credit report. And this can be done now quick and free - online.

So, if you are planning to purchase a home, or a car, and unless you have tons of cash stashed somewhere else, then your credit report will be a great help in you’re getting a home or a new car. Also, if you are planning to get a loan for any other reason, depending on you’re credit report; you will either get a loan or get rejected. 2008, thus far...

No doubt, money makes people happy. At least the security and peace of mind it provides. So what's up? How am I doing, and what will I do in a few months?

How am I doing online:

Adsense (for the month of January) - 500.00 dollars, 400 something as of today.
Nose Bleeding PP's (you know what I mean) - 600.00 dollars for January.
Will get paid (Feb.) by Kontera around - 160.00 dollars
Sponsors (links etc.) will be getting around 120.00 dollars for January.

Conservatively getting 1K a month now, online.

The nosebleeding PPs are expected to increase next month because I invested 100 dollars last month to buy a PR5 domain, populated it with content, and was got approved. It actually, for January, got 10 posts at around 25 dollars each. Investment recovered and more.

Offline:

The La Nina of sorts saved me a lot of gasoline. I need to pump water to my rice fields - thus far, things looks great. I expect a record breaking harvest by March. Also, copra prices are its highest rates that I can remember.

The crown jewel - agri lending - is doing great than I expected. I probably reached its saturation point in the four communities that I am involved in. I am thinking the possibilities of expanding, late this year.

The transpo business, are remitting their returns as expected. There is no recession there, thus far, hehehe.

---------------------------

Now it had been almost 2 years since I left my job in KSA. It was a successful 2 years of being unemployed - and doing the things my way. Hehehehe. No regrets there, whatsoever.

---------------------------

There is now a wireless internet connection from Bayantel. I meet one of their sales person yesterday. I am planning to get one, to replace my current broadband connection, I will shift from desktop, to laptop blogging because:

1. I want to blog when I am in my farm 25 kilometers away from the City. I can sleep there now without the need to hurry back to the City - because I need to be online.

2. I want to blog by the beach ( when I am bored at home). Will buy a beach property in March, put a cottage on it, swim in the morning - blog - swim in the afternoon, and blog in the evening. Without a need to be in the City.

3. I can travel more now than before, because I will have with me my laptop, and my internet connection. Including the capacity to move money from Paypal to my Eon Card whenever the need arises.
--------------------

I promise 2008 will be a good year.

Affordable Home Insurance

We are not really certain, but probably it is because of climate change that flooding happened in the UK last year. The Association of British Insurers (ABI) said that the cost of the floods to insurers is nearing £3 billion in 2007. So, for home owners, it is going to be a tough year in the UK because of, probably, higher insurance premiums. Worse, there is a prediction that 2008 will be wet as well, and flooding could happen again, more frequently. These situation/predictions don’t bode well for home owners needing to get a good rate on house insurance.

So what can you do to get an affordable home insurance? First, get insurance quotes now and find out what you can do to lower your insurance premiums. You can actually, try, Castle Cover. Castle Cover works closely with a number of known Insurance Companies such as: Sun Alliance, Axa, Legal & General, and Royal.

Castle Cover is an insurance company that has affordable house insurance rates. They offer coverage for your house, your auto and including your pet. For an easy quote, visit their website, or give them a call.

Are you searching for an apartment?

I was talking to my friend, and he told me “my feelings right at this moment is a desire to live on my own. To get an apartment so that there will be fewer distractions, less restrictions, and to really feel living alone, whatever that means”. All I can tell him was to do whatever it is he feels like doing. If he feels he needs his own place then get one, plan it, and just do it.

That was my advice to him, plus if he is searching for an apartment now, then he can visit apartmentfinder.com. This is a website that provides a search engine for apartments, that is if a person is searching for a Houston Apartments, Seattle Apartments or Las Vegas Apartments among others; then he can easily find it on this site.

In their website you can search apartment for rent nationwide by zip code, by state or by apartment name or keywords. Not only that, you can search using specifications such as minimum and maximum rents that will suit your budget, number of bedrooms etc. So, if you are searching for an apartment, remember there is apartmentfinder.com.

What happened this week?

The expected fall of the stock market in the US last Tuesday was preempted by actions of the Fed (in panic, I guess), reducing interest rates by 0.75% coupled with the 140 billion economic package by the Bush administration.

However, the bottom is still staring, waiting at everyone, indeed, today:

From NYTimes:

Wall Street ended a tumultuous week with a sharp decline Friday, backtracking following two days of stunning gains as investors turned cautious and cashed in some of their winnings. The Dow Jones industrial average still managed to record its first weekly advance of 2008, even as it fell more than 170 points on the day.

The week, which started with a 465-point drop in the Dow soon after the market opened Tuesday, showed that the stock market is still fractious but may be going through healthy process of trying to establish a bottom following weeks of sharp declines.

And from Reuters:

US stocks dropped on Friday as investors tempered their optimism that the economy could avoid recession, and locked in profits on banking and pharmaceutical shares after two days of sharp gains.

----------------

And oil is back, again : US crude settled up $1.30 at $90.71 a barrel, while London Brent crude gained $1.83 to settle at $90.90 a barrel.

Also, the Peso, hay....the peso rallied to 40.80 to the dollar Friday on the back of rebounding regional stock markets and Moody’s improved credit-rating outlook on the Philippines.

----------------

My guess, next week will not be uni-directional..it will be a tumultuous journey to bottom.

Stock markets are falling

Every one is in panic. Everyone wants to sell. Everyone is pricing, anticipating a recession. Stock market are falling all over the world, no exceptions. Hay.... the global slump this year, 2008, which means the past few days, has wiped out more than $5 trillion paper money from stock markets.

When will this end?

To quote a news from the NYTimes today:

FRANKFURT — Fears that the United States may be in a recession reverberated around the world on Monday, sending stock markets from Mumbai to Frankfurt into a tailspin and puncturing the hopes of many investors that Europe and Asia would be able to sidestep an American downturn.

Asian markets today, Tuesday, also fell horribly. What's up for Wednesday?

--------------

Nothings lasts. I actually feel it is a good time to buy, but let us wait untils the dusts settled. In the meantime, hold on to your gold, and dollars for now.

Website Optimization Firm

To be honest your website is as good as the number of visitors it gets. And most importantly, to the number of conversions you get. I am certain; both (visitors and conversions) these desirable outcomes are what we wanted for our websites and businesses on the web. These outcomes can only be realized through website optimization. How do we go about reaching our target visitors, and indirectly conversions?

This is possible, if we rank high in search engines, and doing that would need the assistance of experts that is, a website optimization firm. For example, ThinkBIGSites.com has lots of experts and expertise that can help you get more website traffic and improve your search engine rankings. Also, ThinkBIGSites.com employs a safe and a much quicker process that costs less than their competition.

What's up with oil prices?

Oil prices in the world market, today, fall to 89.00 dollars per barrel. US crude fell by $1.57 to $89.00 by 1417 GMT in electronic trade, just off a session low of $88.67, which was the lowest level since Dec. 11.

So, is it a good time to buy or to sell oil? What do you think?

First a few questions that we have to answer:

1. the oil demand of China and India are for real.
2. was the oil price in December that reach 100 dollar per barrel oversold? is the price movement today just a correction?
3. what is the real thing about supply?

IMO, oil can still get lower. If the price reach 85, either the speculators would get out dropping prices to 80 or lower, or they would buy more to stave off losses? Which is which?

I'd say, I'll buy when it reach 80-82. That is buy low, and sell high. If ever, this trade has low risk, I mean oil can't go 75 with the current value of the dollar and with the current demand from China and India.

Let us wait until it reach 80-82.
-------------

On the news today from Reuters, taken from PDI:

LONDON -- Oil slid by almost $2 to a six-week low below $89 a barrel on Monday as stock markets fell and concern mounted over an economic slow-down led by top consumer the United States. Oil has dropped by more than 10 percent from a record high of $100.09 hit on Jan. 3.

Shares close lower for 6th straight session

I do not trade stocks yet, I am more into forex and gold trading than stocks. The PSE today, shares close lower for 6th straight session. The question I would ask is, until when the drop would go?

The economy is relatively doing good.
The crisis is in the US, and their stocks and currency is dropping too.

Is their light in the end of the tunnel?

Of course yes, my guess is, tommorow would be the best time to buy - stocks are oversold because of fear - its value are still intact, IMO; so there is going to be a rebound sooner than later.

For a quick profit, buy now, and sell them a few days later when the rebound is over - use the Fibs wisely and earn your target profit. Goodluck.

--------------

Let us wait for tommorows close, and I'll report back here.

--------------

On the news today from PDI:

MANILA, Philippines -- Stock prices finished lower Monday for the sixth straight day to its worst close in five months but recovered towards the end of trading due to some bargain-hunting, brokers said.

Bargain-hunting supported select blue chips but most stocks remained under pressure, including market heavyweight Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT), which fell in line with the 3.0 percent drop in its American Depositary Receipts last Friday.

The 30-company composite index ended down 16.00 points or 0.5 percent at 3,152.30, its lowest close since August 22 when it settled at 3,139.46.

The broader all-share index lost 2.94 points or 0.2 percent to 1,952.32.

Government to buy MRT 3

I am confused with the government policy of disposing and buying assets. Recently they sold the PNOC-EDC cheaply, when it was earning handsomely for the government because it controls the geothermal resources of the country. My guess was, there was a huge amount of money to be earned from the sale through SOP or Commissions, whatever that means. That is why, the government or the Palace sold it.

Now, on the news today, the government will buy Metro Railway Transit 3 for $900 million. My thoughts are, this is a losing business proposition, because currently the government is subsidizing fares of the riding public in the Metro Railway Transit 3 , yet they are willing to pay a huge amount for MRT 3 when it will not earn a Peso for the government. My guess is there will be a huge amount of money to be earned from the purchase through SOP or Commissions, whatever that means. That is why the government or the Palace is purchasing it.

So, ano ba talaga?

On the news today, from PDI:

The Philippine government is raising $900 million mostly from a 10-year, peso-denominated bond offering by a state corporation before the end of March to fund its takeover of the Metro Railway Transit 3, Finance Secretary Margarito Teves said.

The Department of Finance has mandated Development Bank of the Philippines and Land Bank of the Philippines to arrange the refinancing of the MRT 3 contract, Teves said in an interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer, parent company of INQUIRER.net.

Boat Insurance

I am sure many of us has car insurance, it’s a requirement. You cannot register, or even drive if you do not have insurance. Years back, when I was working in Saudi Arabia, my company covered our insurance, but that was life and health insurance. Cover My Boat is an insurance company. Cover My Boat can help you get an online boat insurance quote within minutes. Their company offer boat and yacht owners’ fast and reliable service. Definitely your boat cost you a fortune, so it is only right, and you should make sure that it’s covered in the event of an unfortunate accident. Cover My Boat can provide you with that protection by offering yacht insurance that you can count on. So, if you are a boat owner – visit their site at http://www.covermyboat.co.uk.

How to cope with the rising Peso?

Ok, your husband, who had been an OFW for years was sending you 800 dollars a month. It used to be equivalent to 44,200 pesos, but today with exchange rate around 40:1 dollar, you now get just around 32,000 pesos; a loss of over 12,000 pesos a month. I know 12,000 pesos is a lot. But, what can you do?

I suggest you do the following:

1. Ask more from your husband. If this is not possible then go to number 2.
2. Reduce expenses and cut costs. Eat less in restaurants, buy fewer Coffee from Starbucks, do not go the movie often as before, do not use your car frequently, use the MRT. All I am saying is, change your lifestyle. Adjust.
3. Budget the money well. Pay the bills first. Turn off lights when not needed. Turn off the faucet. Do not use washing machine all the time - exercise your hands. etc.
4. Do not get a loan so you can maintain you current life style. Doing so would create more problems in the future.
5. Find a job, or make a sideline income.

What else can you do? Just try to save, and save.

Dyson Vacuum Cleaners

One of the things your wife, sister, or mother or even yourself would appreciate is a reliable stylish, slick, and state of the art, not so expensive Dyson vacuum cleaner. If you are moving to your new apartment or condo, this is one thing that you really should have. Why are they slick and state of the art? If you visit their website, you will understand what I mean. They look great (I’d say futuristic designed), and are efficient.

If you want to shop online, then visit their site, and choose a range of vacuum cleaners from www.dyson.co.uk. You can have the Dyson upright range vacuum cleaner suitable for cleaning large carpets, or the cylinder range vacuum cleaner ideal for mixed or hard floors among others. There are so many choices and you can choose based on your need i.e. Dyson vacuum cleaners ideal for Allergy Sufferers, or for Pet Owners, etc. Also, if you buy on line you get a car cleaning kit worth £40.00, free delivery on orders over £25.00 and your old cleaner will be collected and recycled for free! So, what are you waiting for?

Manila city council eyes plastic utensils ban

To honest, this is one of the best ordinances that I appreciate; just imagine how much savings would businesses have from this ordinance, and how much reduction in wastage, and garbage problems they would contribute to the City. I hope the Manila council would have this ordinance approved.

That is why, I also hope, the other cities around the country would follow suit.

Here the excerpts from the news (PDI):

Plastic foam packages and plastic utensils may soon be banned in Manila restaurants should an ordinance prohibiting their use among dine-in customers be passed by the city council. Councilor Rafael "Che" Borromeo of the 5th district said he proposed the ordinance to compel the city's fast-food chains to phase out non-biodegradable materials.

"I already wrote to them six years ago when I was still head of the city government's Department of Public Services (DPS) to use washable utensils instead of disposable ones. Some listened but some did not. With this ordinance, they would be required to follow it," he told the Philippine Daily Inquirer (parent company of INQUIRER.net).

Borromeo said the ordinance, which is still on first reading, should cut the city’s non-biodegradable waste, which currently accounts for between 45 and 50 percent of total garbage. The capital city, he added, produced around 1,250 tons of garbage daily during his term at the DPS from 2000-2007.

Restaurants that fail to comply will be charged P500 per day from the day of the violation until the fines are settled. A third-time violation may result in the cancellation of the business license and operating permit of an establishment.

Borromeo said restaurants will spend less in the long run if they decide to go environment-friendly in their daily operations.

Where is Gold - Part IV

This has become a series. If you followed me, you could have earned a lot dollars from trading Gold. You could have deposited a few dollars with Oanda, traded Gold on-line at very low leverage (water down the bridge). And watch your earnings grow...

Anyway, where is Gold today?

The price of gold broke through $900 an ounce for the first time Friday, during trading in New York.

Futures touched an all-time record of $900.10 an ounce in New York after strong price gains in London trading earlier.

---------------
Part 1 was posted way back in March 27, 2007, and in that post I said:

Despite the sideways movement of gold prices, I still feel very much bullish on this metal in the long term. Gold for April delivery closed down $1.40 at $662.50.

In my opinion, this is a good buy. I would buy, and sit on it for the rest of the year. My target is at least double its current price.

My reasoning for doing this - is something I cannot post, a gut feeling, and a dream.

----------------------
Part 2 of this post was posted in September 22, 2007, and I said:

But that followed spot gold's surge to $739 an ounce in Europe on Friday -- its highest since January 1980.

It is up and up!

---------------------

Part 3 , November 8, 2007, on the news (from PDI):

The pullback in oil helped cool the surge in gold which peaked at a 28-year high of $845.40 on Wednesday, near its all-time high of $850 reached in January 1980. Spot gold was trading at about $833 an ounce by 0605 GMT.

So?

No matter what, I will have to close the trade once it reached 900. I guess a gain of 260 dollars an ounce is more than enough. I have always said do not bite too much what you cannot chew, and be careful.

--------------------

My target was reach. So would you still trade Gold now that it is at 900 dollars already? Ask me.

Employer’s Reference Source

Do not hire a fake. Know your employees well. I know...its kind of difficult to really find out, completely, what and where our prospective employees had been. It is important that we do a police criminal background check as a routine, on our prospective employees - to safeguard and protect our businesses, whatever that means. The need for police checks are important, that is, if we think that verifying someone’s good record is needed if they’re going to be dealing with children or other vulnerable people in a position of trust. So where do we go?

There is www.ersnw.com an Employers Reference Source. They can provide you with Criminal History, employment background check, Education Verification, Driving History, and Credit History of your employees. They provide an employee screening service to save you time and possible headaches. So if you are hiring, they can help you recruit the correct person. Go, visit their site now and check the services that they offer.

Philippines to sign Asia-wide ‘open skies’ deal

The government should not underestimate the impact of this agreement. I said before, real estate particularly "beach properties" will sooner than latter enjoy a boom. This Asia-wide ‘open skies’ deal is one of the major triggers.

Consider the following (taken from the news from PDI):

ASEAN [Association of Southeast Asian Nations] member-countries agreed in 2004 to adopt open skies in the region beginning with unlimited flights between capital cities by December 2008. Japan, Korea and China are also expected to sign.

*Expected influx in tourists due to open skies.
*PAL is expanding, Cebu Pacific is expanding, also Air Philippines and SEAir.”
*China alone could be a source of 100 million tourists a year.
*Airports are being developed in tourist areas to allow the entry of A320s and other commercial planes.
*Expected earnings from expected millions of tourists
*Real estate boom

The next step for the Philippines after the signing is the ratification of the agreement by the Senate.
--------------
Our Senate should really buckle down to work, instead of focusing their energies in mudslinging, and politicking for 2010.

How to start your business in the Philippines when you are an OFW and away?

I am sure many of our OFWs wanted to put up their own businesses back home while they are earning somewhere else (overseas), at the same time. This is what I did. I had been a "little bit" successful on this, so I want to share some of my first hand experience. You can check them out and tweaked them for yourself.

Benefits of putting up your business back home while working overseas are as follows:

1. It educates and teaches your family members to earn a living by themselves, to help you out, and to reduce the need to send monthly allotments, whatever.
2. Once you decide to go home, there is something waiting for you.
3. In my case, the business I put up in the first year, cancelled out the need to send money - monthly, as the earning from the business was enough for my family monthly needs, thus increasing my power to save.
4. It enables you to earn money and create employment back home.

But in doing this, you have to be careful, or you are just putting money down the drain.

OK, here are my tips:

1. Do not do it alone. Do not let your family members do it alone. Get somebody outside who knows how to do it, its details, the tricks.

In my case, somebody asked me if I could finance a business, I said yes, tell me more about it. I asked him, can he put 100% of his time on it? Does he know about the business, economics behind it, management system needed, etc. So we agreed. I made a family member involved in the business by way of a helper, treasurer, and overseer (limited capacity) rolled into one. Listen to your partner, and let him run things.

2. Before you agree to a business, evaluate it first. Do your own evaluation. Ask others who had been into similar business - everything: market, mark up, problems, pitfalls, etc.

3. Be open. Listen to your partner, listen to your family member. Be flexible and adapt to market situations. Change if needed.

4. Put everything on record. Agreements, sharing system, receipts, deposits, etc. Most importantly, do not mixed up expenses for your business, and personal/personnel expense.

5. Communicate. Ask you family member to email you weekly, details, and everything else. Monitor it.

Good luck.

In the US, I sure hope a Democrat gets in to the White House come November. It is most definite because of how the current President- George Bush, is performing. It is dismal, and look what's happening? hehehe.

In the Philippines, 2010 is still far away, but the race seems to be starting. Who are your bets? Place your bets guys, gals:

Erap, again?
Lacson
Legarda
Villar
Roxas
Bayani Fernando
Gordon
De Castro
De Venecia
Teodoro, who?

Frankly, if elections are held today, I would either vote for

Fernando
Gordon
Roxas

I hope one of them runs for President come 2010.

For VP, if Roxas run for President, he should have Fernando or Gordon as VP.
If its Fernando, or Gordon running for President they should get a Garcia or a Defensor or Roxas for VP.

Let us see how it eventually will open....

What's up with the Peso in the New Year?

If the first day of trading in a New Year is an indicator, then our Peso has much room to strengthen, which actually, was predicted by most Forex traders, locally and internationally. So, my advise is to follow the perception of the herd, but be careful.

I do not see the Peso going to 35. I even see it hover around 40"s for the whole year. I also see it weakening to 43 to 45 briefly to scare away speculators. I saw it happen with the US dollar years back, with the Euro, Yen and others. Be careful.

Anyway, on the news to day from PDI as reported by Reuters:

Most Asian currencies rose on Wednesday, starting the year on a firm note due to expectations of sustained capital inflows into the region and a faster rising Chinese yuan.

The peso backed by rising remittances from overseas workers, rose as far as 41.05 per dollar, up about 0.5 percent from Friday's close to its strongest level since mid-2000.

"I think peso bulls will continue to test the dollar's downside near term, particularly with the BSP (central bank) also rather receptive of the peso's appreciation as a tool to curb inflation," said Bank of America strategist Han Sia Yeo.
