Can we get the Gold this time?

Only Athens Olympics veteran Harry Tañamor has so far qualified for Beijing after winning the silver medal in the Aiba World Championships in Chicago, Illinois last November.

It is now clear, after the Asian qualifier, we now have five boxers that will get a final shot at Olympic slots.

Godfrey Castro took over Violito Payla’s place and light welterweight Delfin Boholst made it back to the five-man Smart-PLDT boxing team competing in the second and final Asian Olympic qualifying slated March 16 to 24 in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Bantamweight Joan Tipon, lightweight Genebert Basadre and featherweight Orlando Tacuyan Jr. complete the RP squad hoping to earn tickets to the Beijing Olympics in August.

Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines picked the five boxers based on their performances at the national training camp in Baguio City recently.
